Acquisition timer settings

Any acquisition cycle in xDSoft uses at least one Timer control. One of such Timer controls plays a special role of tracking timing throughout the cycle. This special Timer control is responsible for:

  1. Accurate measurements of time at each step or sub-step of acquisition cycle.
  2. Scheduling pauses and delays, where applicable.

Time measurements (stamps) are subsequently converted to time calibrations of acquired data. Depending on selected acquisition cycle, time stamps are interpreted differently. For example, in Continuous and related cycles, time of each measurement is measured as a real-time delay from the start of acquisition. In Exposure cycle only the time during which Shutter is open is counted, while real-time is not relevant.

Timer tab in Settings area provide access to settings on the main Timer. Available options and parameters are described here.

In addition to the main Timer accessible through the Timer tab, some acquisition cycles may include additional timers for scheduling parallel processes or events. Parameters of these additional timers are accessible through their host components. An example of such parallel timer is one used for scheduling Shutter operation in Asynchronous mode.

For routine operation it is usually not necessary to change Timer settings.
